In a very recent announcement, it’s been informed that Google is launching a new way of video optimization in cases where the video is uploaded to the site itself and not necessarily to YouTube.
Until the current change, in order to be ranked high with video, it was recommended to upload the video to YouTube and link from there to the site. But thanks to the, it is now possible to mark "highlights" in the video to appear in snippets of Google's search pages.
